Summer Interns
Global Goods Partners is looking for a small team of enthusiastic and dedicated summer interns to support our small staff. Internships are available in the following areas: Education and Advocacy; Merchandising; Marketing; Fundraising/Development. Individual projects will be determined with the intern based on skills, interests, and needs. While GGP internships are unpaid, we are happy to work with you to obtain credit for this internship and staff are committed to ensuring an engaging and substantive experience.
The following are possible internship projects:
- Draft a handbook for middle and high school students starting GGP clubs at their schools;
- Integrated GGP photo into an interactive web-based map;
- Assist in the development of web-based education tools for youth;
- Research organizations and campaigns addressing fair trade, women’s empowerment, youth, and social responsibility;
- Contribute to creative and interactive classroom tools to engage students in global issues;
- Coordinate GGP’s presence on social networking sites;
- Represent GGP at events in and around New York;
- Background research and reporting on trends in merchandising;
- Research potential funding for GGP;
- Some administrative support.
Qualifications
- A passion for the mission of Global Goods Partners;
- Basic understanding of grassroots development and fair trade preferred;
- Strong internet research skills and comfort with Microsoft Office;
- Excellent writing and communication skills;
- Self starter;
- Organized with strong attention to detail;
- Experience with blogs, social networking, flickr, and other web 2.0 tools a plus;
- Ability to communicate complicated ideas in simplified language;
- Interest in global education, and youth engagement;
- Public speaking and experience with youth preferred but not required;
- Spanish preferred but not required.
Start and end dates are flexible but we would prefer someone who can start mid may and work for three months. We will consider both fulltime and part time applicants. Some weekends and evenings for events.
