Global Goods Partners Honors MLK Day with Children for Children
On January 15th, 2007, Global Goods Partners participated in Children for Children’s citywide celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Over 800 children and their parents gathered at Martin Luther King High School on the West Side of Manhattan to participate in a number of hands-on service projects. Global Goods Partners added a global perspective to the day, providing children with the opportunity to learn about our work by writing letters to a few of our partner Community Based Organizations (CBOs) in Thailand, Uganda, South Africa, and Peru. In these letters, children explained the significance of Martin Luther King Day to their peers in other countries and shared some of America’s history with the groups that have so graciously shared their beautifully handcrafted products with us.
