Asociacion de Artesanos Andinos

Bolivia

Asociación de Artesanos Andinos is a nonprofit association of traditional weavers of Bolivia’s indigenous Quechua and Aymara communities. Using alpaca, sheep, and llama wool, these men and women of the Andean highlands employ time-honored weaving techniques to produce traditional cultural designs, which illustrate ancient community myths and spiritual beliefs. These textiles not only support indigenous Bolivian families, but they also serve to preserve and promote the historic weaving tradition of the Quechua and Aymara.
