Cambodia Volunteers for Community Development
Cambodia
Cambodian Volunteers for Community Development (CVCD) is an organization established in 1992 to promote the recovery of war-torn communities through organizing and encouraging community volunteerism, including young people and adults. Today, CVCD’s work is concentrated in the urban poor squatter communities around Phnom Penh where it provides training and education to women in sewing techniques, family planning, credit and savings, and health and environmental education. CVCD has assisted the graduates of the training programs in organizing sewing cooperatives to ensure a more sustainable enterprise. It also offers nonformal education programs to underserved children including literacy and job skills training.
