Kachin Women’s Association Thailand

Thai-Burma Border

Kachin Women’s Association Thailand is a membership organization of over 10,000 women from four Kachin districts in Burma. The country remains under military control and continues to suffer ongoing civil conflict. The situation leaves the ethnic Burmese and many others vulnerable to extreme human rights abuses, forcing families to flee their homes. The Kachin Women’s Association provides emergency and long-term assistance to women who are internally displaced from their communities and living as refugees. Through the services provided at Kachin’s Women’s Crisis Centers, women receive basic services such as food, shelter, and medical care and counseling and skills training to help rebuild their lives.
