Pure Art is a company jointly owned by community associations made up of 600 Afrocolombian women from Patia, Colombia and a group of private investors. The Women of Patia, in collaboration with Foundation Chemones Colombia, started Pure Art to generate employment and income for woman headed households. The program is active in a region rife with unemployment and illicit activity. Many farmers have turned to coca production to earn an income. Pure Art provides a viable alternative to coca production and the opportunity for women to develop self-esteem and independence. In addition, the organization supports community health programs, education, and the revitalization of rural infrastructure.
