Wola Nani
South Africa
Wola Nani, Xhosa for “we embrace and develop one another,” was established in 1994 as a non-profit organization to help HIV positive women and children in the local community cope with the emotional and financial strains brought about by HIV and AIDS. Through counseling, training, awareness-raising, community support, and income-generating opportunities, people with HIV are empowered to take control of their lives with confidence, dignity and hope. By disseminating information and raising awareness, Wola Nani also works to decrease stigma of HIV positive people.
