How much of a return can my school expect?

Schools with the most successful fundraisers actively publicize them within their community, emphasizing the fair trade and educational aspects of the program. It is helpful to establish a goal from the outset so that the community feels invested in working toward a specific goal, such as raising funds for new sports equipment, chairs for the auditorium, or a scholarship fund. Some schools choose to run the fair trade fundraiser in tandem with another program to give members of the community options for supporting their school.

How else can my school get involved in Fair Trade/learn about artisan groups?

You can visit our web site to find information about artisan groups and the area of the world where they live and work. The web site also provides links to other fair trade groups and resources. Each of our products comes with a tag describing the organization that crafted the item, the social and economic challenges facing the group and its community, and the group’s efforts to overcome adversity and advance social justice.

When possible, we provide speakers for school events when women from our partner groups are in the area. We also help schools connect with other fair trade organizations.
